Are you an ambitious Veterinary Surgeon looking for your next step, with real support to progress and a strong focus on work–life balance? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, forward-thinking small animal practice in the heart of the Midlands.

The Practice
This is a stand-alone, purpose-built small animal practice located on the outskirts of the university town of Loughborough. The practice benefits from on-site parking and excellent transport links, with easy access to Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham, London, and the Peak District.

You’ll be joining a close-knit, supportive team made up of 4 vets, alongside a strong nursing and support team of 6 RVNs, 2 SVNs, 5 CCAs and a dedicated Practice Manager. The culture is collaborative, inclusive and genuinely focused on doing the best for both patients and people.

The Role

This role offers a great balance between clinical challenge and quality of life.
  • You’ll work a full-time four-day week with no out-of-hours and just 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (9am–12pm).
  • Part-time hours can also be considered for the right candidate.

All vets are encouraged to work a mix of consults and surgery, with 20-minute consults as standard. The caseload is varied and interesting, with exposure to both medical and surgical cases, allowing you to continue developing at your own pace.

Clinical Development
The Practice Partner holds a postgraduate certificate in surgery, meaning more complex and orthopaedic procedures are handled in-house. This offers excellent learning and development opportunities for vets looking to build confidence surgically or work towards certificates of their own.

The practice is very well equipped, including digital x-ray, ultrasound, digital endoscopy, in-house lab facilities and a wide range of surgical and orthopaedic equipment.

About You
This role would suit an experienced vet looking for progression, or a confident vet keen to push themselves clinically within a supportive environment. You’ll enjoy teamwork, good communication, and be open to developing your skills while delivering high standards of patient and client care.

Support for individual areas of interest and further qualifications is actively encouraged.

What’s on Offer

  • 4-day working week with a strong focus on work–life balance
  • No out-of-hours and just 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (9am–12pm)
  • 20-minute consults as standard
  • Salary up to £70,000 depending on experience
  • Generous CPD allowance with up to 5 days of paid CPD
  • Support and funding available for certificates
  • Paid professional memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS, BSAVA)
  • 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays
  • Contributory pension scheme and life assurance (4x salary)
  • In-house discounts for colleagues’ own pets
  • Additional company discounts and rewards

This is a brilliant opportunity for a vet who wants to feel supported, challenged, and genuinely valued, while maintaining a healthy work–life balance.
