Veterinary Surgeon – General Practice (All-rounder GP)
Up to £70,000 DOE | 4-day week | No on-call | Relocation support available
I’m working with a friendly, well-established first opinion small animal practice that’s looking to welcome an additional Veterinary Surgeon to their growing team. While the location may not be a major city hub, the practice itself offers a genuinely supportive environment, modern facilities, and a strong sense of community that makes it a great long-term option for the right vet.
The Practice
This is a busy, purpose-built GP practice located just off the main high street, recently refurbished and finished to a high standard. The team is heavily involved in the local community and takes real pride in building long-standing relationships with clients.
Culture is a big selling point here – the team is friendly, collaborative, and supportive, with minimal sole charge during normal working hours and plenty of opportunities to ask for help or second opinions.
The Team
You’ll be joining a well-balanced, experienced team made up of:
-
5 Veterinary Surgeons (mix of full and part-time)
-
8 Registered Veterinary Nurses
-
A strong, hands-on nursing team and dedicated client care support
Outside of out-of-hours, there’s always someone to refer cases to, which helps create a relaxed and safe working environment.
Facilities
The practice is well equipped with:
- Two theatres
- Digital X-ray
- Dental suite
- Full in-house laboratory
This is a true general practice role with a good balance of consults and routine surgery. The caseload is predominantly dogs and cats, with the occasional small furry or tortoise, but no heavy exotics.
Surgical work is mainly routine procedures such as neutering, dentals, and lump removals, with a strong emphasis on case continuity and quality care. There is scope to develop further in areas of clinical interest, with support available.
The practice is open to a range of profiles, including:
- Vets with 2+ years’ experience
- General all rounder with a surgical bias
- Vets looking for a consult-only role
- Someone returning to clinical practice who wants to rebuild confidence and skills
Please note, even consult-only vets would be expected to take part in the weekend rota, with some surgical involvement.

- 8:30am–7:00pm weekday shifts
- 1 in 5 Saturdays and Sundays (8:00am–7:00pm) in-practice, with RVN support
