Farm Animal Veterinary Surgeon
Co. Wicklow | 40 minutes south of Dublin
€48,000–€80,000 DOE | 4.5-day week | 1 in 6 OOH

I’m working with a friendly, progressive practice in County Wicklow that’s looking to add a Farm Animal Vet to their team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys proper farm work, values teamwork, and wants a role that’s genuinely sustainable long term.

The Role
This is a permanent farm animal position with plenty of variety across dairy, beef and sheep. The practice takes a proactive, common-sense approach to herd and flock health, offering everything from fertility and mastitis work to calf health, parasite control, and bull/ram fertility.

You’ll be working closely with clients who value continuity and good advice, and you’ll have the support of a large, experienced team around you.

Work–Life Balance
Work–life balance is taken seriously here:

  • 4.5-day working week

  • OOH rota of 1 in 6

  • Day off in lieu after a weekend on call

  • No more than 6 half-day Saturdays per year

A work van can be provided, or mileage paid, and overnight accommodation is available when you’re on call.

The Practice & Location
Based just 40 minutes south of Dublin, the practice is ideally located between the Wicklow Mountains and the coast. It’s a brilliant spot if you want countryside living without being cut off, and it works well for anyone commuting or relocating.

The team is supportive, down-to-earth and easy to work with, making it a good fit whether you’re early in your career or more experienced and looking for a long-term home.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary €48,000–€80,000 depending on experience
  • Relocation support available
  • €2,000 CPD allowance plus 5 days CPD per year
  • Certificate support and funding
  • Paid VCI and VDS fees, plus an additional professional membership
  • Enhanced annual leave
  • Employer pension
  • Paid charity day
  • Annual pay reviews and progression opportunities

If you’re a farm vet looking for a role where you’re supported, trusted, and not burned out by the rota, this is well worth a look.
