Veterinary Surgeon – Thriving, Progressive Hospital Group | Somerset/Wiltshire Border | Up to £60k DOE

This is one of those standout opportunities where clinical excellence meets a genuinely supportive, well-equipped team environment.

A leading independent-minded hospital group on the Somerset–Wiltshire border is growing their small animal team and seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join their established network of 24 clinicians. The team includes certificate holders across Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology, and Feline Medicine, as well as access to a visiting Ophthalmology Diplomate — creating the perfect setting for professional development and case variety.

What Makes This Role Special
The practice runs its own out-of-hours service, ensuring exceptional continuity of care and strong collaboration between day and night teams. With a state-of-the-art hospital and multiple branch practices, facilities include:

  • Modern consulting rooms and surgical theatres (laparoscopic equipment included)
  • In-house lab, ultrasound, digital and dental x-ray
  • Dedicated CT department and on-site orthopaedic referral service
  • ISFM Cat Friendly accredited sites with cat-only consults
  • Laser therapy and a spacious, well-designed staff area

The 24-hour hospital in Frome provides round-the-clock support, led by a dedicated night nursing team, so daytime vets enjoy genuine work-life balance.

Location & Lifestyle
Based on the Somerset–Wiltshire border, the area offers the best of both worlds — easy access to Bath, Bristol, Salisbury, and the Cotswolds, alongside beautiful countryside and the South Coast for weekend escapes.

The team is known for its camaraderie, plenty of cake-fuelled celebrations, and a shared commitment to sustainability — proudly holding IIE Green Accreditation.

The Offer
  • Salary up to £60,000 DOE
  • Full-time or part-time considered
  • A forward-thinking, supportive environment with clinical freedom and mentorship

If you’re seeking a role where you’ll be supported by advanced clinicians, have access to top-tier facilities, and enjoy a true balance between rewarding work and life outside the practice — this is worth a conversation.
