A rare opportunity has come up for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a genuinely impressive and very well-supported team in West Yorkshire, around 50 minutes west of Leeds.
This is the type of practice that’s difficult to find, large enough to offer proper support, advanced facilities and varied caseloads, whilst still maintaining a friendly, collaborative feel day to day.
You’d be joining a 9-vet small animal team with a huge range of experience and clinical interests to learn from. The setup includes certificate holders in surgery and imaging, alongside experienced medicine vets and a large team of qualified RVNs and support staff, creating an environment where people are encouraged to ask questions, discuss cases and continue developing without feeling thrown in at the deep end.
The practice itself is purpose-built and exceptionally well equipped, including:
• CT scanner
• Digital x-ray
• Ultrasound
• In-house laboratory
• Dedicated surgical suites
• Separate inpatient facilities
• 24/7 onsite nursing care
Out-of-hours is outsourced, allowing the team to properly switch off and maintain a healthier work-life balance.
The caseload is busy and varied, making it a brilliant environment for someone wanting to continue becoming a strong all-round GP vet whilst also having the opportunity to explore specific interests longer term. Certificates are actively encouraged and supported.
The location also offers a really nice balance. Keighley gives you easy access to the Yorkshire countryside and Dales, whilst still being well connected into Leeds and Manchester for city life, restaurants, shopping and nightlife. It’s also far more affordable than many larger cities, making quality of life go a lot further.
What’s on offer:
- 4-day working week
- Excellent 1:8 weekend rota
- 8 weeks annual leave including bank holidays
- Strong CPD support and funding
- Certificates encouraged
- Professional fees covered
- Visa Sponsorship
- Salary from £40,000–£65,000 DOE
Overall, this would suit someone looking for a genuinely supportive team environment, access to advanced facilities and a practice where they can continue to grow clinically whilst still enjoying a good work-life balance.
Note this role is not suitable for new graduates, ideally you will have 2 years UK experience minimum**
