This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or an experienced veterinarian to join an amazing team at this well equipped clinic in the beautiful city of Gladstone.

A full time position is available for a small animal veterinarian for:

  • new or recent graduates who want to learn in an exciting environment with experienced mentors.

  • International AVE candidates who have passed preliminary MCQ exam who will benefit from practical support across all species with help from collaborating large animal clinics.

  • Experienced veterinarians who want to use and further develop their skills in a clinic which sees it all and welcomes special interests.

And...

  • Experienced locum veterinarians looking for short term or ongoing regular work opportunities

More about the practice:

  • High staff retention rate (some of the vets and support staff have been there 20+ years!)

  • There is a great clinic culture the team have created and with the care given each client and patient.

  • 4 full time Vets

  • A wonderful group of experienced nurses and receptionists.

  • 4 day work week with flexible rostering

  • Scheduled 1 hour lunch break

  • Consult time blocked out to allow further workup / research / notes /patient follow up care

  • Genuine commitment to CPD – minimum $1500 per year allowance

  • Team approach and plenty of support.

  • A generous salary, negotiable depending on your experience, starting at $75,000 + super for a new graduate. Expect $130-140,000 for vets with the skills and experience needed.

  • After hours shared by all vets. This means 1 weeknight per week and every 5th weekend on call.  Time off in lieu for working Saturday mornings.  Plus a dedicated triage service to filter the non-urgent calls.

  • AVA membership, VSB registration paid, plus a subscription of your choosing.

  • Paid parental leave, 5 days paid volunteer leave and an annual extra day off to say “thanks”.

  • Great team culture, social events out of hours such as lawn bowls days, local Race days and artsy workshops!

The clinic is well equipped with digital x-ray, IM3 dental, dental xray, Idexx biochemistry and haematology, Imagyst cytology, in house laboratory, excellent working relationship with local pathology lab, ultrasound and all the other beeping machines.

For recent graduates, the regional small animal clinic is a great way to quickly get experience in a broad range of medical, surgical and emergency cases.

Full support with an experienced and dedicated mentor.  You will also benefit from the Graduate Development Program which supports your transition from uni to practice.

For experienced vets there is an opportunity to thrive in a busy clinic where you will see and treat all of the interesting cases while being paid a great wage and actually enjoying yourself with a fantastic work-life balance. Special interests are welcome and will help you to develop your niche.

Location:

Gladstone has everything from beach to bush and the perfect climate. You can spend weekends exploring the Boyne Valley, walking the old train tunnels, swimming in waterholes and having lunch at the pub or you can drive down Lily’s Beach and spend the afternoon with a picnic and drinks or camp overnight. You can go for a stroll at our beautiful marina, Spinnaker Park or East Shores waterfront precinct and have lunch overlooking the harbour and islands, explore the award winning botanic garden and walking trails. 

If you love the outdoors there are National Parks and State Forests to explore in all directions, some with significant historical heritage such as WWII bomber “Betsy” in Kroombit National Park. Or you might want to watch a show at our Entertainment Centre, world class ballet companies and performing acts and enjoy an espresso martini at the wine bar or visit our art gallery.

Located at the Southern end of The Great Barrier Reef and access to an abundance of Islands such as Heron or Lady Musgrave where you can snorkel and dive the coral reefs.  If interested in marine animals, you can volunteer at the Quion Island turtle rehabilitation centre, which homes, green, leatherback and hawksbill sea turtles. Agnes Waters, is the most northern surf beach on the QLD coast, a great day or weekend escape. The relaxed lifestyle in Gladstone is fantastic and on top of that our real estate is a great price.
