We are pleased to be working with a super supportive team who are expanding and look for a veterinary surgeon to join their team from late summer 2024.

  • No Sole Charge & constant support

About the practice:

  • They are a 1st opinion small animal practice with all the usual equipment and mixed clientele with both insured and uninsured pets giving a varied caseload.

  • The team works hard to give great client service and also a positive practice culture and the practice is growing as a result.

The Team:

Currently they have 4 vets, each working 4 days a week. And aim to have three vets working each day and two on Saturdays so there is no expectation that a new vet will work without support and no sole charge.

With 5 RVN's, 2 SVN's and an ANA/ACA. The RVN's are all very experienced - the youngest qualified 4 years ago, the other 4 RVN's have all been working in the profession for 10-20 years each so they have a wealth of knowledge and are a great support for all the vets

Also within the team is a surgery certificate holder and another vet studying a feline medicine certificate. And, they also have a VetGDP adviser so can help a newer graduate and give them a solid foundation to build their career. Their first new grad stayed for five years and the next has been there for three years so far showing what a supportive culture they have.

The hours:

  • Ideally they would like someone to work a 4-day week with 2/5 Saturday mornings (8.00-12.00). There is no OOH and the days will be a mix of consulting and surgery. They can be flexible if this doesn't suit.

  • The consulting blocks are broken up through the day so no-one consults for more than 2 hours without a 30 minute break and they block off time in the rota for admin work and phone calls rather than needing to squeeze this in after surgery.

Location:

The practice is in a market town on the Norfolk & Suffolk border. Norwich is 30 minutes to the north, the coast is 30 minutes to the east and Thetford Forest 30 minutes to the west.  Nearby has trains to London every half an hour which take about 90 minutes. There is plenty of countryside and many pretty villages nearby to explore and the town itself is a lively, growing town with lots of young people and a strong sense of community.

On offer:

  • Salary from £37k-55k DOE

  • RCVS, BVA, BSAVA & VDS fees paid.

  • CPD allowance, new graduate CPD scheme, study for a certificate would be supported.

  • Online learning platform with clinical & personal development content.

  • Holiday entitlement of 33 days (FTE).

  • Team discount & health scheme.

  • Workplace pension options.

  • VetGDP + Cert holders on the team

  • An amazing team of nurses and receptionists to help and encourage you every day.
