An established independent mixed practice in North Yorkshire is looking to welcome a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon with a farm bias to join their growing team. This is a genuinely flexible opportunity, offering a varied caseload and the ability to tailor the role around individual interests, while remaining part of a supportive, experienced mixed team.

This is a mixed position with a strong emphasis on farm work during the day, including herd health planning, fertility work and routine farm visits across cattle and sheep. The caseload can be shaped towards ruminants or small animals depending on preference.

There is a requirement to be involved in small animal out of hours, but this is within a well supported rota with two vets on call and an out of hours nurse in place. The practice operates a rolling 12 week rota, offering predictable time off, a standard 4.5 day working week and a four day week every fourth week.

The Practice
Independently owned and long established, this practice has built a strong reputation locally and continues to grow. The team includes a large group of mixed vets alongside dedicated small animal, ruminant, poultry and pig clinicians, ensuring excellent support across all species.

Facilities are modern and well equipped, including multiple consult rooms, operating theatre, imaging suite and separate dog and cat wards. The farm side is supported by a dedicated dispensary, warehouse and farmers’ shop, providing a true one stop service for the farming community.

The practice places strong emphasis on preventative medicine, collaboration and clinical discussion, with regular in house meetings and farmer engagement.

The Candidate
A proactive mixed vet who enjoys farm work and is comfortable supporting small animal out of hours. Someone who values working within an independent environment, enjoys variety and wants to be part of a close knit, forward thinking team. Ideally a minimum of 1 years experience.
