An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Criticalist to join a brand-new, purpose-built 17,000 sq. ft. specialty and emergency hospital in Halifax. This is a rare chance to help shape and grow a critical care service that will influence referral standards across Atlantic Canada.

You would be joining an established criticalist who has already laid the foundation of the department, alongside a highly collaborative specialist team including internal medicine, surgery, radiology, dermatology, ophthalmology and anesthesia. Dedicated ER support is in place, with additional specialty services launching in 2026. The hospital also maintains a partnership with the Canadian Animal Blood Bank and has developed a teaching relationship with the Atlantic Veterinary College.

The Facility

  • Purpose-built specialty hospital
  • State-of-the-art operating theatres
  • On-site CT and MRI
  • Dedicated ICU with Snyder kennels and high-flow oxygen
  • ICU-focused RVTs providing excellent clinical support

This is an environment designed to support advanced critical care medicine, collaboration and service growth.

The Role

  • Join an existing criticalist to further develop the ICU service
  • Work within a strong, multidisciplinary referral team
  • Participate in a fair and supported weekend rotation
  • Contribute to teaching and service development opportunities

What’s On Offer

  • Highly competitive base salary
  • Substantial signing bonus
  • Relocation support
  • Long-term career progression within a growing specialty hospital
