Mixed Veterinary Surgeon | Strong GP Practice | Salary up to €75,000
An established mixed animal practice is seeking a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join the team. The role has only recently gone to market and there is flexibility around start date, level of experience, and contract length.
This is a genuine mixed GP role within a well run, independently owned practice that was taken over last year. The previous owner has stepped back clinically but remains involved with testing work, meaning there is strong continuity and support on the farm side.
The role
- Mixed practice position with a strong large animal element
- Open to experienced mixed vets, confident farm vets, or those with a genuine interest in developing further in large animal work
- Open to short term or longer term options, including locum support or specific TB testing cover
Team structure

Currently a 4 vet team with a supportive nursing team
Working pattern
- Five day working week
- Shared on call rota
- For most of the year, vets are on call approximately one weekend in four
On call workload
- Generally low intensity
- Many nights have no calls
- Even in spring, a busy Sunday may involve around six calls
- Not a high pressure emergency environment

- Strong GP mixed caseload
- Large volume of dentistry
- Digital x ray
- Ultrasound
- In house bloods
- Videoscopy
- Visiting orthopaedic support
- Back up and guidance
Salary and package
- New graduate salaries typically start around €45-50,000
- Experienced vets paid up to €75,000 depending on experience
- Practice vehicle provided
