Mixed Veterinary Surgeon (Also open to Large only)
Looking for a role that offers genuine variety and a strong mix of farm and small animal work? This mixed practice in the Wexford area is opening its doors to an experienced vet who wants to develop their career in a supportive, well-equipped environment.
They’re open to mixed or large animal backgrounds, and small animal training can be provided if needed. A start date of January 2026 is preferred.
The Role
This position offers a true blend of large and small animal work, with flexibility to shape the caseload around personal strengths and interests. Certificates, diplomas, and further academic development are fully supported.
Large Animal Work
Farm visits covering herd and flock health, fertility, routine work, calvings, lambings, and emergency cases. The role suits someone who enjoys building long-term relationships with farming clients and managing a varied farm caseload.
Small Animal Work
Consults, routine procedures, and surgical cases within a well-equipped hospital. Training can be provided for vets who have primarily worked on the farm side.
On Call

The on-call rota is 1 in 4 with protected time off in lieu. Shifts rotate between early and late patterns with shared weekend cover across the team.
The Practice
This is a modern mixed hospital with strong clinical standards and excellent facilities including surgical theatres, in-house diagnostics, digital imaging, ultrasound, endoscopy, and a dedicated dental suite. The team includes a solid mix of vets, nurses, and support staff who work collaboratively and support one another clinically.
The location offers an excellent lifestyle with beaches, outdoor activities, a lively local town, and easy access to transport links. The practice also plays an active role in local welfare work.
What They’re Looking For

A VCI registered veterinary surgeon with a valid licence to practise in Ireland. Strong interest in large animal work and a collaborative mindset are key.

Those with limited small animal experience are welcome, provided they’re open to developing this side.
