This is the perfect position for a Nurse looking to progress in all aspects of in-patient and hospital-based nursing within a leadership role.

This includes providing patient care for all in-patients across all wards, ensure effective ward rounds and handovers are carried out, ensuring effective communication with clients throughout the day and liaising with other departments to ensure smooth flow of patients between disciplines.

The candidate will require experience in in-patient nursing or have a keen interest to develop within this area. You will help to facilitate the efficient and effective management of a varied caseload within the wards, including medical and surgical patients, whilst ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to patients.

  • This role would be suitable for qualified Veterinary Nurses- either already working within a senior role or ready to take the next step into management. You will be supported by the Clinical Nursing Manager and other Lead Nurses.

Expected responsibilities

  • Working alongside lead surgical nurse, lead vets, nurses and PCA’s to provide nursing plans and care for all inpatients

  • Ensure precise, efficient and accurate ward rounds are carried out

  • Work with the medical team to ensure all procedures are carried out as required for in patients

  • Engage with discipline specific team meetings to review processes and protocols with a view to progressing and improving where possible

  • Practice good hospital hygiene and maintain infection control check lists in all wards

  • Accurate record keeping, especially with regards to kennel sheets

  • Work closely with team leaders to plan the daily case load

  • Ensure effective handovers between patients

  • Lead and participate in daily huddles and team briefings

  • Engage with training in advanced monitoring techniques

  • Have regular 1:1’s, performance development reviews, mid and end of year reviews with your line reports

  • Attend and contribute to weekly lead nurse meetings

  • Monitor intensive care patients

  • Take responsibility for your patients from admit to discharge.

The practice is based in West Yorkshire, a 13 minute train ride from the city of Leeds with easy access to the beautiful Peak District and the city of York less than 1 hour away.
