If you're an experienced vet ready to shape the clinical direction of a forward-thinking hospital, this is your chance to step into a leadership role with real influence.

We’re working with a well-established RCVS-accredited hospital in Sheffield, seeking a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to take the reins of their close-knit vet team. Whether you’re already in a senior role or feel ready for the step up, this practice offers the support and autonomy to help you thrive.

Why This Role?
You’ll have protected leadership time built into your week (minimum half a day), alongside a hands-on clinical role. This means you’ll lead by example while driving high standards, mentoring junior vets, and influencing how care is delivered across the team. There’s also strong collaboration with a supportive Clinical Director – perfect for someone who wants to lead, but not alone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and mentor a team of 8.5 FTE vets
  • Support development across vet, nursing & client care teams
  • Uphold and enhance clinical quality across services
  • Lead patient safety audits and champion best practice
  • Shape workflows, training and case discussions

The Practice:
This is a genuinely friendly, collaborative team with specialisms across dermatology, feline medicine, ophthalmology, imaging, and surgery. The site has everything you need to work cases to a high standard: multiple theatres, advanced imaging, dental and isolation suites, and top-tier lab and surgical equipment.

What’s On Offer:

  • Salary up to £67,000

  • Protected leadership time

  • Career progression & support for certificates

  • 6.6 weeks annual leave

  • Funded CPD and professional fees

  • Genuine flexibility and a team-first culture

  • Social, welcoming team with regular outings and events

This is an ideal move for a vet who wants to lead without stepping away from clinical work – someone passionate about doing things well and lifting up those around them.
