An independent, progressive small animal practice in Offaly is seeking a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to lead and support their nursing team.

This is a first opinion GP practice with a loyal client base and a supportive working environment. The Head Nurse will play a key role in maintaining clinical standards, overseeing day-to-day nursing operations, and working closely with the Lead Vet and wider team.

The team currently consists of 2 full-time Veterinary Surgeons and a nursing support team, offering a collaborative setting where nurses are genuinely valued and involved in patient care.

Role Overview

  • Full-time permanent position

  • 4 or 5 day working week available

  • Shift patterns typically 8am to 4pm or 11am to 7pm

  • Fridays finish at 6pm

  • No OOH

  • 1 in 5 full Saturday (8.30am to 4.30pm) with a day off in lieu the following week

  • Sundays and Bank Holidays closed

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and supporting the nursing team

  • Overseeing clinical standards and protocols

  • Supporting rota management and workflow

  • Mentoring junior nurses and supporting CPD

  • Working closely with the Lead Vet on day-to-day operations

About You

  • Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse

  • Registered or eligible for registration with the VCI

  • Previous experience in a veterinary nursing role

  • Confident supporting and guiding a team

  • Organised, proactive and comfortable in a busy first opinion setting
