Lloyd & Cowan Veterinary Recruitment are delighted to be working with a progressive, science-led large animal business seeking a Farm Vet with a strong interest in breeding, reproduction, and herd health.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a dedicated farm role focused on high-health herds, where reproductive management and herd performance are at the core of the work. The position offers a structured, proactive approach to veterinary care, with minimal out-of-hours requirements, making it an attractive option for vets looking to focus on planned, high-quality farm work rather than reactive caseloads.

The Role

This role centres around herd health planning, fertility management, and reproductive performance across well-managed herds and associated facilities.

Breeding & Reproduction Focus

  • Take a leading role in reproductive management across the herd
  • Oversee breeding programmes, fertility performance, and calving outcomes
  • Manage pre- and post-calving protocols, including fertility monitoring
  • Support and perform assisted calvings and reproductive interventions where required
  • Work closely with on-site teams to optimise breeding efficiency and herd productivity

Herd Health & Preventative Medicine

  • Deliver structured herd health planning with a strong emphasis on prevention
  • Monitor youngstock development, fertility KPIs, and overall herd performance
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage conditions across calves, heifers, and adult stock
  • Maintain accurate records to support data-driven decision-making

Biosecurity & Compliance

  • Maintain high standards of biosecurity across all sites
  • Ensure compliance with health schemes, testing protocols, and export requirements
  • Complete certification and documentation accurately and efficiently

Collaboration & Development

  • Work closely with experienced farm and veterinary teams in a highly organised environment
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in herd performance and health protocols
  • Support training of on-farm staff in reproductive management and herd health practices

The Opportunity

This role would suit a Farm Vet with a genuine interest in reproduction and herd health who enjoys working in a structured, proactive environment. With minimal OOH requirements, it offers an excellent balance while still providing exposure to high-level farm work and herd performance management.

About You

  • BVSc or equivalent
  • Experience in farm or large animal practice
  • Strong interest in breeding, fertility, and herd health work
  • Confident handling routine farm work including calving and reproductive management
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team
  • Full UK driving licence

This is an excellent opportunity for a farm-focused vet to develop or deepen their expertise in reproduction within a well-supported, forward-thinking setting.
