What is the Role Like?

  • This RCV accredited Equine Practice are looking for an Equine Vet to fill a predominately ambulatory role with a 1 in 5 on call OOH’s rota.

  • There is a fully equipped clinic facility for work ups with support and collaboration from our experienced team of senior vets and highly supportive nursing team. 

  • You will be encouraged to follow your area of interest and fully support further clinical development.

  • Having a good mix of leisure and competition horses to serve along with an increasing population of geriatric companion horses. 

About the Practice:

Situated in the beautiful Northumberland, yet only 20 minutes from Newcastle International Airport, close to the coast as well as the thriving nightlife of Newcastle city centre. There is truly something for everyone in the Northeast! National parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty within 1.5 hours drive. The clinic is in a semi-rural area supported by good road networks and infrastructure and serves an area of 35 miles radius across the region.

The clinic is an established first opinion practice with a solid referral service supporting surrounding practices with diagnostic imaging including MRI and Scintigraphy alongside an in-house surgical suite. Having an excellent reputation for emergency exploratory laparotomy success.  In addition, there are two treatment rooms and a large indoor trot up and lunge area for work ups. The clinic can house up to 10 stabled horses and has qualified EVN’s nurses to assist with inpatient care alongside remote access security cameras on each stable. In addition, the clinic is equipped with DR portable radiographs, ultrasound, gastroscope/endoscopy, dentistry equipment and laser surgical capabilities along with all the usual equipment expected in a large equine facility.

Role Expectations & Salary

Salary starts from £32,000 up to £50,000 depending on experience – we are open to applications of all experience levels. We are able to both support a New Grad, as well as encouraging the development of a more experienced Vet.
