Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – Surgical Bias
An established small animal practice in Belfast is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a strong surgical bias to join its clinical team. This role would particularly suit a vet with advanced surgical confidence, ideally holding or working towards a certificate in soft tissue or orthopaedic surgery.
The practice supports complex case work, invests in clinical development, and encourages vets to lean into their strengths. Surgery is a key focus of this role, with the caseload and support to match.
The Role
• Small animal role with a strong emphasis on surgery
• Routine and advanced soft tissue procedures as standard
• Exposure to orthopaedics and complex surgical cases
• Emergency surgery including caesarians, enterotomies, and amputations
• Minimal consult bias compared to typical first opinion roles
• Supported by an experienced nursing and veterinary team
• Opportunity to shape and develop the surgical offering within the practice
The Ideal Candidate
• Veterinary degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 5 years’ small animal clinical experience
• High level of confidence in soft tissue surgery
• Certificate holder or actively working towards one preferred
• Comfortable managing surgical cases independently
• Strong communication skills with clients and colleagues
• Professional, compassionate, and clinically driven
Desirable Experience
• Orthopaedic surgical experience
• Leadership or mentoring experience within a clinical setting
• Interest in helping develop protocols or mentoring junior vets
