Veterinary Surgeon – Wiltshire (Hospital & Branch Mix)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a veterinary surgeon to join a well-established, supportive group in Wiltshire. This position offers the chance to be part of a progressive team with a low staff turnover, strong clinical standards and a reputation for keeping cases in-house wherever possible, both surgically and medically.

The role is based across both branch practices and the main hospital, offering a balance of continuity in general practice alongside exposure to advanced procedures. You’ll enjoy a four-day week of 10-hour shifts with a fixed day off, giving consistency and balance. The weekend rota is light, with just two Saturdays in ten, while Sundays remain optional and attract a higher rate. Nights are covered by a dedicated team, so out-of-hours work is not part of this role aside from very occasional sickness cover.

What’s on offer

  • Four-day week with consistent hours and set day off
  • Light weekend rota with optional Sundays paid at a higher rate
  • No routine nights – supported by a dedicated OOH team
  • Mix of hospital and branch work with varied caseload
  • Salary up to £70,000 DOE, with further support for certificates

The hospital is well equipped, with a CT scanner currently in progress, and the surgical caseload is particularly strong, supported by certificate holders in both soft tissue and orthopaedics. Across the wider team you’ll find a genuine mix of experience, from long-standing colleagues through to a new graduate intake each year, creating a collaborative and friendly environment.

Why this role

  • Join a stable, supportive team with low turnover
  • Work alongside cert holders in surgery and medicine
  • Be part of a forward-thinking group with a strong reputation for clinical care
  • Flexible start date – autumn or new year considered
  • Opportunity for part-time or job share if preferred
