Modern practice. Proper kit. Supportive team. No OOH.
Looking for a role where you can actually work cases up properly, be part of a genuinely collaborative team, and still have a life outside of work?
This forward-thinking small animal practice is based in Oldham, just 20 minutes from Manchester city centre, sitting on the edge of the Pennines — perfect for those who want city access with a more relaxed, scenic base. They’re searching for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and established team.
Why this role stands out:
- Modern, well-equipped practice: Dental radiography, digital x-ray, referral-level ultrasound with cardiac and abdominal probes, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, TTA kit, electro-cautery, tonometer and slit lamp. If you like good kit, they’ve got it.
- Genuine team culture: Vets, nurses and receptionists work closely together — knowledge is shared, support is real, and nurses are proactive and fully utilised. No egos, just good teamwork.
- Clinical freedom with back-up: Two days working with experienced vets for development and surgical support, plus two quieter branch days where you can get on with your own caseload.
- Work-life balance: 4-day week (approx. 40 hours), 1 in 3 Saturdays (short), no OOH or on-call. 20-minute consults as standard.
What they’re looking for:
A confident GP vet who enjoys a solid caseload, is happy in consults and surgery, and ideally comfortable mentoring younger vets. Communication skills, a proactive mindset and a team-first attitude are key.
Package:
- Salary up to £74,000, depending on experience
- Full benefits package (pension, CPD, holidays, parental leave, fees paid, discounts)
- Access to specialist teleconsult services (medicine, radiology, cardiology, oncology, and more)
- Strong professional development support
This is the kind of practice where your clinical opinion is valued, your day is supported, and you finish on time more often than not.
