No OOH, no Sundays, and a rota that respects your time

A well-established, independent practice in Waterlooville is looking for an experienced vet to join their tight-knit team. With a strong surgical caseload, a loyal client base and a sensible, forward-planned rota, this is a great opportunity for a vet who enjoys building client relationships and getting stuck into surgery.

The Role
Full-time, averaging 40 hours over 4 weekdays, with 1 in 3 Saturdays (finishing at 6pm). No Sundays, no on-call, and the rota is planned a full year in advance. The team values balance and routinely finish work and lunch breaks on time. You’ll have at least three dedicated surgery mornings per week, plus a mix of 15 and 30-minute consults and regular admin blocks.

The Team
You’ll be working with 2 experienced vets, 4 RVNs, a VCA, and a hands-on RVN practice owner. Four of the team have been with the clinic for over five years. Clinical support is also available from sister practices, which includes 21 vets across five locations. Although you’ll be based solely at one, there’s plenty of opportunity for collaboration and case discussion.

The Practice
Opened in 2016, this is a modern, well-equipped surgery with an active client base of around 3000 and a healthy surgical workload. The current caseload is 67% canine, 27% feline, and a small number of exotics. The practice runs regular vet meetings and fosters a culture where your input and interests are valued.

Location
Located just north of Portsmouth with easy access to the coast, countryside, and transport links to the rest of the South East. It’s a great spot for vets looking for a quieter pace of life while still being close to bigger towns and cities.

What’s on offer

  • Salary between £45,000 and £70,000 depending on experience

  • £1,750 CPD allowance plus 5 paid CPD days

  • Certificate support separate to CPD budget

  • RCVS, VDS and BVA fees paid

  • Income protection, life assurance, and optional private medical insurance

  • Staff and family pet care discounts

  • Paid birthday off

  • Visa sponsorship

  • Membership application fees covered if needed

  • A rota built to protect your time and help you thrive in practice

This is a team-first clinic with excellent staff retention, surgical variety and a long-term mindset. Ideal for a vet looking to step into a more settled, supportive role.
