The referral clinic has dedicated clean, spacious, theatres and range of equipment required to offer the level of high-quality referral services our colleagues have come to expect from the only dedicated full-time surgical referral service on the West coast of Ireland. Specialized equipment includes:
Pneumatic and battery-driven drills and saws
TPLO saws and kits (2.0 to 3.5)
AO/ASIF compression kits (1.5mm to 4.5mm)
IMEX external skeletal fixation
Helica hip replacement kits
Securos XGEN TTA
Spinal bur
Arthroscopy 2.4mm to 2.7mm
Plus, a good range of ancillary surgical tools
Digital X-Ray
Ultrasound
16-slice CT is being installed as part of our newest practice extension
In addition to two existing surgeons, they also have an experienced Small Animal Medicine certified clinician and visiting ophthalmologist and physiotherapist who provide a comprehensive service for our patients, colleagues and clients. The current referral centre takes on a very busy caseload from over 150 practitioners. And the clinic expansion will allow them to provide their high standard service to many more.
The Role
This is a permanent, full-time or part-time position for an experienced Referral Veterinary Surgeon.
Up to 40 hours or 3-5 days per week. Weekends and OOH are negotiable.
Your duties will include:
Consulting on referral cases
Operating on referral surgical cases
Advising both internal & external colleagues
Reporting to referring practices and instructing on the pre-operative and post-operative management of cases
A willingness to take part in the Emergency & Critical Care roster including nights and weekends, would be an advantage to a prospective candidate but is not essential.
Salary for this position is highly competitive and commensurate with level of experience and certification.
A relocation allowance of up to €5000 if relocating for the role
Applicant Requirements
Any applicant must be VCI registered or eligible to register.
Ideally possess a Board certification in Small Animal Surgery; however, strong consideration will be given to residency-trained surgeons and/or certificate holders with documented evidence of a significant caseload suitable to the role.
Excellent communication skills are essential. Must be able to work well within a team environment with a busy caseload.
