Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon
Southsea, Hampshire
Independent, Family-Run Practice

If you’re looking for a genuinely independent, family-run practice where clinical freedom and work-life balance actually mean something, this one is well worth a conversation.

An established small animal practice in Southsea, just fifteen minutes from the seafront and Gunwharf Quays, is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their long-standing team. They’ve been established for over 17 years and remain proudly independent and vet-led.

This is not a high-pressure corporate environment. It’s a stable, supportive practice where the team has worked together for years and are treated well. Staff retention is strong, and the atmosphere is collaborative and respectful.

The Role

This is a four-day week position with no out-of-hours and no bank holiday work. There is just one Saturday morning in three, with the Friday afternoon off beforehand.

You’ll have full clinical independence and the confidence to work some sole charge when required. They’re looking for a confident, client-focused vet who enjoys building relationships and delivering high-quality first opinion care.

Facilities

The practice is well-equipped with ultrasound, digital radiography, in-house Idexx laboratory machines and air-conditioned facilities. You’ll have the tools you need to work cases up properly.

What’s on Offer

  • Salary starting from £45,000 plus depending on experience

  • Four-day week

  • No OOH

  • No bank holidays

  • All CPD supported and funded

  • Professional membership fees paid

  • Long-standing supportive team

  • True clinical autonomy

The Location

Southsea offers that rare mix of coastal lifestyle with city access. You’re close to the beach, Spinnaker Tower, Gunwharf Quays and the Isle of Wight ferry, while still having excellent links to Portsmouth, Southampton and London.

This would suit an experienced vet who values independence, consistency and a calm, well-run practice environment.

If you’d like a confidential chat about whether this could suit you, get in touch and I can share more insight into the team and day-to-day culture.
