Small Animal Veterinarian – Full Time

Ōtaki, Kāpiti Coast

Are you a small animal veterinarian looking for a role where you can genuinely enjoy your work, grow your skills, and have a life outside the clinic? This is an opportunity to join a progressive, well-supported clinic with big plans for the future, set in one of the most lifestyle-friendly locations on the Kāpiti Coast.

We’re a busy, well-established small animal clinic seeking a motivated, capable veterinarian to join our close-knit team and play a key role in the next phase of our growth. If you’re someone who enjoys building strong client relationships, values high clinical standards, and wants to be part of a supportive, community-focused practice, this role offers an outstanding long-term opportunity.

The Role

This is a full-time position in a thriving small animal practice. You’ll be stepping into a clinic with a loyal client base, varied caseload, and a strong reputation for quality care and professionalism. You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of cases, contribute your ideas, and help shape the future direction of the clinic as it grows.

There may be some Saturday work as part of a shared roster, however there is no after-hours requirement.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least one year’s experience in small animal practice

  • A strong commitment to client care and communication

  • High clinical standards and pride in delivering quality medicine

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills

  • A positive, collaborative approach to working with a team

  • A genuine desire to continue learning and developing professionally

What You’ll Gain

  • The support of an experienced, highly capable nursing team

  • Ongoing professional development, mentoring, and access to a wider network of clinical expertise

  • A friendly, professional, and family-oriented working environment

  • The opportunity to contribute ideas and be part of a growing, forward-thinking clinic

  • A competitive remuneration package reflective of your experience and skills

  • Real work-life balance in a clinic that values sustainability and staff wellbeing

The Clinic Environment

This clinic is known locally for its personal, relationship-based approach to care. Clients consistently highlight the genuine compassion shown to them and their pets, the professionalism of the team, and the warm, approachable atmosphere of the clinic. You’ll be joining a workplace where people enjoy coming to work, support one another, and take pride in the service they provide.

While the clinic itself has a close-knit, small-team feel, you’ll benefit from strong professional support and collaboration with nearby practices, giving you access to a broader pool of experience and expertise whenever you need it.

The Lifestyle

Ōtaki offers an exceptional lifestyle for those wanting to escape the grind without sacrificing convenience. The beach is just minutes away, the community is welcoming and relaxed, and the area is ideal for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. With walking tracks, fishing, and wide-open spaces on your doorstep, this is a place where you can truly switch off after work.

Despite the relaxed, small-town feel, you’re never far from great amenities. Cafes, restaurants, beaches, and coastal towns are within easy reach, and the city is just over an hour away when you need it.
