About the role

An exciting role in one of Sydney’s leading not-for-profit animal welfare organisations. As Senior Veterinarian, you will play an integral part in managing the animals within our care to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved for them. This role will involve:

•Performing all aspects of medical and surgical veterinary care

•Working closely with the Head Veterinarian to develop and improve processes and procedures

•Assisting in the development and running of veterinary related programs including student, volunteer, and community programs

•Approaching patient treatment and care with compassion and the use of fear-free techniques to support the animals’ welfare

•Participation in community education programs, animal welfare events, media, and fundraising campaigns

•Collaborate with other departments in an efficient and respectful manner to achieve the best possible outcome for all animals in care

•Assist visiting specialists in complex cases

Desired skills and experience

•Has a passion for companion animal welfare

•Strives to provide an exceptional level of patient care

•Has at least 3 years experience with a high level of competency in all aspects of medical and surgical veterinary care

•Is compassionate and dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for animals

•A commitment to or willingness to integrate fear-free handling

•A desire to continually promote companion animal welfare through education and support of the community

•A positive outlook and willingness to be involved in all aspects of the organisation

•The ability to work closely with a team as well as autonomously

•Experience working in animal welfare field will be highly regarded
