A well-equipped independent hospital in West Sussex is looking to welcome a Night Veterinary Surgeon to its established ECC team. This role offers the chance to work in a busy, referral-standard hospital environment, while enjoying a sustainable rota and the support of experienced colleagues.
Salary: £60,000 to £72,000, depending on experience
Rota: 3-on, 7-off / 4-on, 7-off (13-hour shifts)
The Role
This hospital provides dedicated out-of-hours cover for a number of local practices and delivers full inpatient care through the night, so there are no patient transfers between clinics. You'll work alongside a twilight nurse, a night nurse, and ACA support during the week. The rota follows a three-week rolling pattern of 3-on, 7-off followed by 4-on, 7-off. Handover time is built into each shift.
What They're Looking For
A minimum of two years in small animal practice is required, ideally in the UK. Some emergency experience is expected, though prior OOH-specific roles are not essential. More important is an interest in ECC and a commitment to clinical quality, communication, and teamwork.
Benefits Include
- Generous CPD budget (£1500 standard, £2000 for Advanced Practitioners)
- Certificate support available
- 7 weeks holiday including bank holidays
- Enhanced sick pay and parental leave
- Pension
- Up to 40% staff discount for own pets
- Occupational health and mental health support
This is a full-time permanent role based in West Sussex. Accommodation is not available with this position.
