If you’re looking for variety, autonomy, and an incredible lifestyle, this is a role worth exploring!

Join a modern, purpose-built hospital in the beautiful Bay of Islands and tailor your caseload to suit your strengths - small animals, farm work, equine support, or a blend of it all.

Live Where Others Come to Holiday
The Bay of Islands is famous for its warm climate, sparkling coastline, and relaxed pace of life. It attracts people from all over the world who fall in love with the beaches, boating, forests, and welcoming community. It’s the perfect setting if you want a rewarding career without compromising lifestyle.

About the Role:
This mixed position is designed to be flexible. Whether you prefer small animals, enjoy large animal work, or want to dabble in equine without carrying the full load, the role can be shaped around you.

Large Animal Work:
Farm visits take you through some of the region’s most spectacular landscapes - Hokianga, Whangaroa, the Bay of Islands, and countless hidden gems. The caseload is primarily dairy, with some beef, low sheep numbers, and a steady stream of lifestyle blocks. You may occasionally triage horses, but equine cases can easily be handed over to the more equine-focused vets on the team.

What’s on Offer:

  • Salary NZD$120k–$160k+, depending on experience

  • 9–10 weeks annual leave

  • Flexible rota and relaxed on-call rotation

  • Fully equipped vehicle for ambulatory work

  • Relocation support + visa sponsorship

  • Supportive, experienced mixed team

  • Pathways for leadership and future partnership for those interested

  • Modern, newly built hospital with excellent facilities

About You:

  • A mixed veterinarian with around 3–10 years’ experience

  • Confident in either small, large, or mixed caseloads - your strengths will set the direction

  • Someone who values a collaborative, low-ego team culture

  • Interested in career development or leadership
