The role is 40 hours per week, with rostered Saturdays and participation in a shared on-call rotation.
About the Role
This is a true mixed animal position supporting the local sheep and beef farming community while also providing high-quality care to small animal patients. You’ll work closely with experienced large animal veterinarians, small animal clinicians, nurses, technicians and support staff in a collaborative, well-resourced environment.
You’ll be trusted with meaningful responsibility, supported to grow your skill set, and encouraged to contribute to service development and client education. The on-call roster is designed with sustainability in mind, generally one weekend in five (or less) and one weeknight.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality veterinary care across both production and small animal patients.

Support routine herd health programmes, fertility management and disease prevention.

Perform medical and surgical procedures to a high clinical standard.

Build trusted relationships with farmers and pet owners, supporting improved animal health and farm performance.

Contribute to the development of both large and small animal services.

Stay current with best-practice veterinary medicine and emerging technology.

Work collaboratively within a supportive, multidisciplinary clinic team.

What You’ll Bring
You’ll be a great fit if you bring:

Eligibility for registration with the New Zealand Veterinary Council and a current Annual Practising Certificate (or eligibility to obtain).

A Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent).

Experience in mixed animal practice, particularly sheep and beef.
