Dairy Vet Opportunity – South West Wales

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated dairy-focused vet to join a team of 12 farm vets and 6 Vet Techs at a well-established farm-only practice in South West Wales.

This position is due to a senior colleague relocating, making it an excellent step for someone looking to progress their career in herd health and fertility.

The Role
This position is ideal for a vet who has mastered the basics of fertility and herd health work but seeks greater opportunities to advance their skills. You’ll work with a variety of herds, from traditional family farms to cutting-edge commercial units, sharing routine work with other vets while being supported by an experienced admin and Vet Tech team.

The practice is focused on finding a vet with the right attitude, aptitude, and enthusiasm to complement their team and provide top-quality support to their farmers and their businesses.

About the Practice
The practice operates out of two fully equipped branches in South Wales, just 8 minutes apart. Their primary working area covers Carmarthenshire, extending into Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, and Swansea. The region is renowned for its stunning coastline and beaches, offering a fantastic work-life balance.

The team includes a mix of experienced vets and newer colleagues, with certificate and DBR holders. They offer a broad range of clinical services, including Advanced Breeding Services, flock and beef health clubs, health planning, and obstetrics.

On-Call and Work Schedule

  • Out-of-hours cover shared equally on a 1:6 rota.
  • Two vets on call at a time, with a half day following night duty.
  • A day off in lieu is provided after a weekend on-call.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary (DOE)
  • RCVS and VDS memberships funded
  • CPD encouraged, including support for certificates
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus Bank Holidays, with the option to buy/sell up to 2 additional weeks
  • Long service holiday accrual (1 day/year for the first 5 years)
  • Health and wellbeing support
  • Enhanced maternity/adoption/paternity pay
  • Fertility and pregnancy loss policy
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Performance bonus scheme

This is a unique opportunity to grow in your career while living in one of the most beautiful areas of the UK.
