A busy, expanding small animal practice near Portsmouth is looking to welcome an experienced RVN into a Deputy Head Nurse position. This is a brilliant opportunity for a confident nurse who enjoys being hands on clinically, supporting a close knit team, and stepping into a role with real progression and development.
The Role
Working closely with the Head Nurse, the Deputy Head Nurse will play a key part in keeping the practice running smoothly while maintaining excellent clinical standards across the nursing team.
You can expect a varied, engaging caseload including:
• Nurse consults
• Inpatient care and monitoring
• Theatre and surgical nursing support
• Coaching and supporting colleagues day to day
• Helping drive efficiency, consistency, and continuous improvement

This role would suit an RVN who enjoys responsibility, takes pride in high standards, and wants to build confidence in leadership while staying clinical.

Working Pattern
• Full time role, typically 4 days per week (9 hour shifts)
• 1 in 4 weekend rota

This is a well equipped, progressive practice with a supportive culture and a growing caseload, including an increasing exotic element.

• Two operating theatres
• Dental suite with digital and handheld dental X ray
• Ultrasound
• Separate wards for dogs, cats, and small animals
• Walk in kennels and an isolation unit
• Dedicated lab and advanced monitoring equipment
