Consult Only Veterinary Surgeon – Taunton, Somerset

A modern, recently refurbished small animal practice in Taunton is looking to welcome an experienced Veterinary Surgeon into a consult-only position. This is a genuinely supportive, friendly team with a strong local reputation and excellent nursing support, ideal for someone who loves client work, case continuity and building relationships.
This role would suit a vet looking for a consult-heavy position, someone stepping away from surgery, or a clinician returning to practice who wants to rebuild confidence in a structured environment.
The Role
- Consult-only focused position with strong case continuity
- Supportive clinical environment with vets always available for second opinions
- Weekend rota participation required (with some basic surgical involvement expected)
- Mostly dogs and cats, with small furries and the occasional tortoise
- Routine first opinion caseload with a calm, team-led approach
- Purpose-built, recently refurbished site (modern and well equipped)
- 2 theatres
- Digital x-ray
- Dental suite
- Full in-house lab
- Hands-on RVN team and excellent client care support
- 5 Veterinary Surgeons and 8 RVNs
- Full-time typically over 4 days
- 8:30am–7:00pm
- 1 in 5 Saturdays and Sundays (8:00am–7:00pm)
- No on-call
- After 7pm, cases go to an external OOH provider
- Salary up to £65,000 DOE
- Up to £5,000 relocation support available
