We’re working with a progressive small animal clinic in Limerick that’s looking to add a Veterinary Surgeon to their team. This is a practice where you’ll get the chance to actually develop surgical skills, something many vets in Ireland struggle to find the scope for.
The role offers a solid balance of consults and surgery, but if you’re surgically inclined, there’s room to push that interest further. With an established team that includes a certificate holder in Cardiology, the environment is collaborative, supportive, and geared towards professional growth.
The role:
Small animal caseload with consults, medicine, and soft tissue surgery
Genuine scope to focus more heavily on surgery if that’s your interest
CPD and certificate funding fully supported
40 hours per week, with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings
OOH shared fairly (1 weeknight per week and 1 in 8 weekends)
What they’re offering:
Salary up to €70,000 DOE
Relocation support available
Vehicle of surgical development opportunities — rare in Ireland outside referral settings
CPD allowance and full support for certificates/diplomas
VCI & VDS fees paid
22 days annual leave + birthday leave, plus paid parental leave packages
1:4 Saturday rota and structured OOH with proper downtime
Supportive team culture with 6 vets, 7 nurses, and excellent facilities (digital x-ray, Idexx lab, ultrasound, dental suite)
Who they’re looking for:
VCI-registered or eligible Veterinary Surgeon
Confident in routine consultations and surgeries
Strong communicator who values teamwork
Interest in surgical development or pursuit of a certificate highly welcomed
This is a role that would suit someone who doesn’t want to be limited to just consults, but instead wants to actually build surgical ability within a supportive, well-equipped clinic.
