Are you an experienced veterinary surgeon with leadership skills looking for something new? Perhaps you want more out of your career, wanting to make a difference by helping both people and animals in need?
We are excited to bring this rare and exciting role to you all. Our client is looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to become Head of the clinic within their friendly team based in North London.
The Practice:
The practice is a well equipped, animal welfare charity. The clinic provides veterinary care for the animals at the rehoming centre, as well as offering free preventative care – primarily neutering and vaccinations – to local pet owners in need.
In addition to the clinic, the organization offers community support through a dedicated officer who provides advice and resources to pet owners in need. They also run a successful pet refuge scheme for animals whose owners are temporarily unable to care for them, and manage a therapy pet program to support various needs in the community.
The Team you'll be leading:
This is a unique leadership role, managing a small team of 2 vets and 3 nurses. Together, you will provide practical and compassionate care to both the centre's animals and pets in the local community. This role would be ideal for someone with experience or a strong interest in shelter medicine and/or community veterinary care.
Day to day duties:
Manage and lead a small clinical team, ensuring high standards of care
Oversee the day-to-day running of the clinic, including surgeries and diagnostics
Provide hands-on veterinary care, with time allocated for management and administrative duties
Advise the charity on veterinary matters and contribute to shaping future programmes
Work independently and manage your own time effectively
The Ideal Vet:
Registered with the MRCVS with at least 5 years of clinical experience
Confident in routine first-opinion surgeries and diagnostics
Experienced in leadership and management, ideally with experience running a clinic
Flexible, with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
Comfortable working in sole charge when necessary
