Veterinary Nurse

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident veterinary nurse who enjoys hands-on nursing, working closely with small animal veterinarians, and being part of a supportive clinic where your skills and experience are genuinely valued.
The Role
This is a full-time permanent position (40 hours per week), including occasional Saturday shifts and shared weeknight on-call duties as part of a rotating roster.
You’ll work alongside a friendly and experienced small animal veterinary team in a role that offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to make a meaningful difference to patients and their owners every day.
Key Responsibilities

Delivering high-quality nursing care, including administering medications and caring for surgical and hospitalised patients

Monitoring anaesthesia during procedures and patient recovery, responding appropriately to changes in condition

Conducting nurse consults independently (depending on experience level)

Assisting in surgical procedures and ensuring smooth theatre operations

Communicating treatment plans and post-care advice clearly and confidently to pet owners

Mentoring and supporting colleagues through knowledge sharing

Collaborating with veterinarians and clinic staff to maintain efficient workflows

Managing clinical supplies and maintaining accurate patient records

Sharing reception and front-of-house duties as part of the wider team
About You
This role will suit a veterinary nurse who is compassionate, capable, and enjoys being part of a close-knit team.
You will ideally bring:

New Zealand working rights

A Diploma in Veterinary Nursing

A minimum of two years’ experience in a small animal veterinary practice

Confidence or strong interest in anaesthesia and patient monitoring

A warm, approachable, and professional manner

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

A reliable and professional work ethic
