Veterinary Nurse

The Role
This is a full-time permanent role (40 hours per week), with occasional Saturday shifts and shared on-call weekends as part of a rotating team roster.
You’ll be joining a proactive, supportive, and passionate team that places real value on collaboration, professional growth, and delivering outstanding patient care. Nurses are encouraged to work to the top of their scope, making this an ideal role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, practical clinical environment.
Reporting to the Clinic Coordinator, you’ll also have opportunities to collaborate with a wider network of clinics across Central Otago, offering variety and exposure beyond a single site.
Key Responsibilities

Delivering high-quality nursing care, including administering medications and assisting with anaesthesia

Monitoring anaesthetics and patient recovery, responding appropriately to changes in condition

Assisting in surgical procedures and supporting smooth theatre operations

Communicating treatment plans and post-care instructions clearly to pet owners
-
Mentoring and supporting colleagues by sharing knowledge and skills

Working closely with veterinarians and clinic staff to ensure efficient workflows

Managing clinical supplies and maintaining accurate patient records
About You
This role would suit a veterinary nurse who is passionate about animal care and enjoys being part of a collaborative team.
You will ideally bring:

New Zealand working rights

A Diploma (or equivalent) in Veterinary Nursing

Ideally 2+ years’ experience, though newly qualified nurses with the right attitude are encouraged to apply

Confidence or strong interest in anaesthesia and patient monitoring

A warm, approachable, and professional manner

Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
A compassionate, patient-focused approach
-
A reliable and proactive work ethic with a genuine desire to continue learning
