This is a career-defining role for a specialist who wants to lead with purpose, mentor a talented team, and remain actively engaged in the specialty they love.

If you’re driven by collaboration, clinical excellence, and the chance to shape the next generation of specialty medicine—this position offers all of that and more.

Why This Opportunity Is Exceptional
As Director of Specialty Medicine, you’ll enjoy a balanced split between clinical work (50%) and leadership responsibilities (50%), giving you the rare ability to advance your own specialty while influencing hospital-wide excellence. You will partner closely with specialists across Internal Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology, Dermatology, Anesthesiology, Diagnostic Imaging, Exotics, and more.

What You Will Lead and Support

  • Guiding and developing a growing team of board-certified specialists

  • Maintaining an active clinical caseload in your specialty

  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship of new specialists

  • Collaborating across departments to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care

  • Shaping strategic planning, workflow optimisation, and medical quality standards

  • Cultivating a culture of communication, respect, innovation, and shared success

What You Bring

  • Board certification (DACVIM, DACVR, DACVIM-Cardiology, or equivalent)

  • Minimum three years post-residency in specialty small animal practice

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership potential—formal leadership experience is welcomed but not required

  • A genuine passion for teamwork, teaching, and advancing specialty care

A Benefits Package Designed for Specialists
This role comes with a comprehensive, thoughtfully designed benefits suite that supports your career, wellbeing, and financial security, including:

  • Competitive base salary from $220,000–$245,000, plus production

  • Company-paid Trupanion insurance for two pets

  • Employer-funded short-term disability and life insurance, with voluntary upgrades available

  • 401(k) retirement plan with a generous company match

  • Multiple medical, dental, and vision insurance options tailored to your needs

  • Choice of FSA or HSA accounts

  • Substantial continuing education funding with dedicated CE leave

  • Full reimbursement for licenses, membership fees, and specialty dues

  • Paid PTO and holidays

  • Team member discounts on pet care

All located in the stunning landscape of Cape Cod—a region known for its beaches, sailing, coastal trails, and charming New England towns, with easy access to Boston and Providence.

If you're a motivated specialist ready to elevate your career while shaping the future of specialty medicine, I would love to speak with you!
