Lloyd & Cowan Veterinary Recruitment is thrilled to partner with a well-established small animal hospital in Newton, MA, in search of a dynamic Lead Veterinarian to guide their experienced team and help elevate patient care, team development, and operational excellence.
This is a unique opportunity for a motivated veterinary professional to step into a leadership role, partnering closely with the practice manager and leadership team to drive continuous improvement, shape culture, and uphold the highest standards of care.
About the Hospital:
This busy 3-doctor general practice serves Newton and nearby communities including Boston, Watertown, Waltham, and Brighton. Services include preventive care, surgery, dentistry, digital radiography, and ultrasound. The clinic has built a loyal client base through a commitment to excellence and compassionate, community-focused care.
The hospital is open:

Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
What You’ll Do:

Provide high-quality medical care and mentorship

Lead with empathy, emotional intelligence, and clear communication

Partner with hospital leadership to implement strategic initiatives
-
Foster a culture that supports learning, collaboration, and work-life balance

Play a key role in developing future leaders and shaping hospital vision
Candidate Requirements:

DVM/VMD (or equivalent) with eligibility to practice in Massachusetts

Active DEA license (or ability to obtain)
-
Proven clinical excellence with leadership potential or experience

Passion for mentorship, team building, and client communication

Competitive salary in the range of $160,000 – $180,000 (DOE)
