Medical Director – Lead a High-Quality Veterinary Team in Arlington, WA
Location: Arlington, WA
Salary Range: $130,000—$150,000 USD

A well-established veterinary hospital in Arlington, WA, is seeking a dedicated Medical Director to help maintain a high-quality, efficient, and effective medical team. This role offers the opportunity to foster an environment of trust, teamwork, and accountability, while working closely with the Hospital Manager and reporting directly to the Regional Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care & Diagnostics: Perform comprehensive exams, recommend diagnostic screenings, and correctly interpret results. Communicate findings and treatment plans to pet owners.

  • Client Communication: Provide status updates on hospitalized patients, respond to client inquiries, and ensure clear, documented communication throughout the treatment process.

  • Surgical & Diagnostic Procedures: Conduct pre-op exams, practice sound surgical techniques, and ensure proper post-op communication and discharge instructions.

  • Medical Records & Pharmacy: Maintain accurate medical records following AAHA standards, oversee prescriptions, and monitor controlled substances.

  • Leadership & Team Efficiency: Mentor staff, promote teamwork, and support hospital operations through effective communication and collaboration with the management team.

  • Financial Management: Accurately estimate costs, communicate financial responsibilities to clients, and help manage hospital resources and payroll.

  • Continuing Education & Training: Share new knowledge from CE meetings, mentor team members, and participate in staff training sessions.

Additional Leadership Functions:

  • Collaborate with medical staff to understand how behaviors impact revenue and provide feedback for performance improvements.

  • Review protocols and oversee daily hospital operations, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained.

  • Participate in weekly operational meetings and assist with scheduling and staff reviews.

Qualifications:

  • DVM degree from an accredited college or university

  • Current State Veterinary License and DEA registration

  • 5+ years of veterinary practice experience, including leadership of technicians and support staff

  • Strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and business acumen

  • Commitment to continuing education and team development
