Lloyd & Cowan Veterinary Recruitment is excited to be partnering with a privately owned and rapidly growing emergency and specialty hospital located in beautiful Ventura, California. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team in a state-of-the-art facility, focused on positive culture, education, and excellent patient care.

The Opportunity:
The hospital provides 24/7 emergency and critical care services to small animals, supporting both walk-in emergencies and referrals from the local veterinary community. The emergency team is backed by internal medicine services six days a week, offering a highly collaborative environment. Facilities include a large, fully equipped ICU, separate isolation and feline-only rooms, and advanced diagnostic and surgical resources.

The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Veterinarian or Critical Care Veterinarian who is passionate about delivering high-quality, compassionate care. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values teamwork, and is eager to continue learning and growing. An interest in emergency surgery is a bonus, as there are abundant opportunities to pursue surgical cases.

What’s on Offer:

  • Guaranteed salary (no negative accrual) plus additional production-based bonuses

  • Flexible scheduling and realistic caseload expectations

  • Generous paid time off to support a healthy work-life balance

  • Choice of comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans

  • Licensing fees and veterinary membership dues covered

  • Generous CE allowance to support your professional development

  • 401k plan to help you plan for your future

  • Employee discounts for your own pets

  • Daily collaborative case rounds and a supportive doctor team

About You:

  • DVM degree from an accredited veterinary school

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in California

  • Previous emergency/critical care experience is a plus, but not required

  • Strong communication skills and a passion for client education

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-doctor setting

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a genuinely positive, privately owned team that values collaboration, mentorship, and quality medicine — all in a beautiful coastal community just minutes from beaches, hiking trails, and California’s wine country.
