Location:
Paradise is the beautiful state of Queensland, the “Sunshine State”. Your base will be in Toowoomba, the largest city on the Darling Downs, second biggest inland city in Australia and right in the middle of pig country! Living in Toowoomba on the Darling Downs is great! Enjoy a warm temperate climate with long warm summers and short ‘cold’ winters (above freezing though!). Toowoomba offers a vibrant lifestyle with plenty of cafes, restaurants, sporting and health facilities, cycling trails, wineries, shopping, exceptional schools and only 1 hour’s drive to the big smoke of Brisbane or just over 2 hrs to the Gold Coast beaches!
The Ideal Swine Applicant:
Having developed your passion for swine, you will most likely be working in pig practice or in a mixed practice servicing pig clients.
You have a solid knowledge of pig health and production and be ready to make a difference in improving production performance in Australian family run and corporate piggeries.
Ideally you will have established skills in herd health, production, diagnostics, pharmacology, data analysis, epidemiology, training, biosecurity and welfare.
The Role:
You will enjoy and be challenged by working with this groups' progressive clients, have the support of a large veterinary and support team and be encouraged to develop your own area of expertise within the business and industry. As a member of Australia’s largest production animal vet group with over 300 veterinarians, you will also benefit from the knowledge gained by interacting and collaborating with your peers that provide vet, nutrition and genetic services to other production animal species.
Having worked flat out during a five day week, toured The Outback and possibly flown to a different state, you will get plenty of time to rejuvenate with rarely weekend work and a trip or two overseas to expand your knowledge further.
