Registered Veterinary Nurse – Barnsley
Modern hospital. Top-tier caseload. No OOH.

A rare and exciting opportunity has opened up at a leading Small Animal Hospital and Emergency Services Clinic in Barnsley. Whether you’re a newly qualified nurse keen to develop your skills or an experienced RVN looking for a new challenge in a modern hospital environment, this could be a brilliant next step.

About the Hospital
This RCVS-accredited hospital has been established since 2002 and is now recognised as a centre of excellence. The site offers 24/7 care with a dedicated on-site team and is equipped with:

  • CT scanner

  • Rigid and flexible endoscopes

  • Advanced ultrasound

  • Facilities for neurosurgery, orthopaedics, minimally invasive surgery, stem cell therapy, chemotherapy, and first-opinion care.

The team includes 14 Vets (including their own OOH team), 24 RVNs, SVNs, ACAs, and strong non-clinical support — all working together to deliver seamless care for both general and referral cases.

The Role
As an RVN here, you’ll get to use your nursing skills to their full potential — admitting patients, monitoring anaesthetics, recovering and discharging, and assisting with a wide variety of advanced procedures. You’ll be involved in neurology cases, CTs, and endoscopic surgeries, supported by ACAs, a dedicated pharmacy team, and SVNs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified RVN with strong general nursing experience and great client communication skills

  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a genuine passion for patient care

  • Open to both new graduates and experienced nurses

Hours & Benefits:

  • Full-time, 42 hours per week, including some weekends on a rota basis

  • No OOH or overnight inpatient checks

  • Competitive salary

  • Generous CPD package

  • Paid memberships (RCVS, BVNA, VDS)

  • Contributory pension scheme

  • Social events and a real focus on wellbeing

  • Exclusive company and high street discounts

This is a hospital role with excellent kit, advanced cases, and no night work — a rare find.

If you’re passionate about outstanding veterinary care and want to be part of a supportive, progressive hospital team, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch with Sophie by sending a CV via APPLY or email directly to sophie@lloydandcowan.com.
