A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established independent practice in Co. Clare.

If you’re looking for a genuine mixed role with plenty of variety, strong clinical support and a team that values a sustainable workload, this could be an excellent fit.

The Role

This is a full-time position within a busy and well-established independent mixed practice, working across progressive dairy, beef, sheep and small animal cases.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills across both the farm and companion animal sides, with the support of an experienced and approachable team.

On-Call Rota

The practice is structured to operate with a team of five vets and aims to maintain this staffing level.

Outside of the spring calving season, the on-call rota is typically 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 when fully staffed, which has been the case for the past two years. If a vet leaves, the rota may temporarily move to 1 in 4 while a replacement is recruited.

During the busy spring calving season, the rota operates at 1 in 3. If the autumn calving period becomes particularly busy, a backup vet may also be available to provide additional support if the duty vet becomes overloaded.

The team is happy to explain the rota in more detail during a visit, so you can get a clear understanding of how it works in practice.

The Practice

The practice is well equipped with modern diagnostic facilities, allowing vets to investigate and manage cases effectively.

Facilities include:

  • A full suite of Idexx machines

  • Urine analysis equipment

  • Faecal egg count analyser

  • Digital X-ray for both small and large animals

  • Ultrasound for both small and large animals

  • A supportive and friendly clinical team committed to high-quality care

What’s on Offer?

  • Salary commensurate with experience

  • VCI and VDS fees covered

  • Mileage paid

  • Genuine mixed caseload

  • Strong clinical support

  • Varied and progressive client base

  • The opportunity to live and work in a beautiful part of Ireland with a welcoming local community

This is a brilliant opportunity for a mixed vet who wants to continue developing across both farm and companion animal work while enjoying the autonomy and flexibility of an independent practice.
