Are you a passionate veterinary surgeon looking for a busy, varied role in a stunning location? Our client is a mixed practice, based on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland, and they're looking for a colleague to join them in delivering excellent care across small, large and equine species.

About the role

  • Caseload split: ~ 65% small animal, ~ 25% large/farm, ~ 10% equine

  • Very busy practice – you’ll see a wide range of work

  • Rota setup includes daily clinics, surgeries and farm visits

  • Expect a demanding lambing season (March–May)

  • One on-call night during the week; one in five weekends on call

  • If you work a weekend on call, you get the following Tuesday off

  • Every alternate week is a 4-day working week

  • They will provide accommodation for the successful candidate

What we’re looking for

  • Fully qualified and RCVS-registered (or equivalent) veterinary surgeon

  • Experience in mixed practice (or strong willingness to engage across species)

  • Able to manage your own cases, but support is available from the team

  • Resilience, good organisational skills, a “can-do” attitude

  • Interest or confidence in farm medicine/surgery and small animal work

  • Comfortable with working in a remote/island context

What’s on offer

  • Competitive salary (to be negotiated, based on experience)

  • Accommodation provided

  • Unique lifestyle opportunity – live and work in the Hebrides

  • A supportive and friendly team environment

  • Excellent variety in work and the chance to develop across disciplines

  • Balanced rota, with guaranteed time off for weekend on-calls

If you’re adventurous, hard-working, and keen to make a difference in an isolated but vibrant community, this could be the role for you.
