Lead Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal

A progressive multi-site veterinary group in County Cork is seeking an experienced small animal vet to take on a leadership role at one of their expanding clinics. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys both clinical work and team leadership, with the support of an established network of colleagues across several sites.

The Role

  • Lead a team of 3 vets, 3 RVNs and support staff

  • Typical 40-hour week, over 5 days

  • 1 in 3 Saturdays, minimal Sunday on-call (1 in 10, with nurse support)

  • Focus on first opinion consultations, medicine and diagnostics, plus routine and emergency surgery

About You

  • Confident in small animal medicine and surgery

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • A collaborative approach with a focus on client care

  • Experience mentoring or supporting colleagues is a plus

About the Group

  • Well-established practice with a history spanning over 75 years

  • Multiple sites across Cork, giving flexibility and strong community presence

  • Mixed caseload, with dedicated small animal services alongside farm support

  • Backed by a national veterinary network offering generous CPD, structured career development, and wellness support

  • Known locally for being progressive, community-driven, and supportive of staff

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary (commensurate with experience)

  • Generous CPD allowance with career development opportunities

  • VCI, VDS and professional memberships covered

  • Enhanced annual leave

  • Pension contributions

  • Paid charity day

  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave

  • Staff discounts

  • And more!

This role offers the chance to combine hands-on veterinary work with leading and developing a supportive, motivated team — within a group that values collaboration, professional growth, and strong community ties.
