We are currently working with a long-established and highly regarded veterinary practice in Kilkenny that is looking to recruit an additional Large Animal Vet to join their expanding farm-animal team.

This is a solely farm animal role, offering an excellent work–life balance with a 4-day working week, no out-of-hours, and no on-call duties.


The Role

You will be involved in a varied large animal caseload, including TB testing alongside routine clinical work and farm call-outs. The practice places a strong emphasis on herd health planning, collaboration, and long-term client relationships.

This opportunity would suit a vet with a few years’ post-graduate experience. A certificate holder, or someone keen to pursue further qualifications in herd health, would be particularly well suited. CPD and further development are actively encouraged and fully supported.


Working Pattern

  • Monday: 8:30am – 5:30pm

  • Tuesday: 8:30am – 5:30pm

  • Wednesday: Off

  • Thursday: 8:30am – 5:30pm

  • Friday: Half day or long day (depending on workload)

  • Weekends: Off

  • Out-of-hours / On-call: None

What They’re Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years’ farm animal experience

  • Comfortable with TB testing

  • VCI registration (or eligibility)

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and keen to develop within a supportive practice
