Head Veterinary Nurse
Permanent | Full-Time or Part-Time | Leadership Role | Up to £35,000 DOE
We’re working with a well-established small animal practice in the Greater London area, currently looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Head Registered Veterinary Nurse. This is an excellent opportunity for someone ready to take on a key leadership position within a supportive, forward-thinking team.
The practice is situated in a desirable and well-connected part of the city, offering a calm and welcoming atmosphere with a strong focus on clinical excellence, collaboration, and staff wellbeing.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal for a Head RVN or a confident senior nurse seeking progression. You’ll be involved in the day-to-day running of the clinical floor, supporting a team of nurses and animal care assistants, and working closely with the veterinary team to deliver high standards of patient care.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading and mentoring the nursing team in all aspects of clinical nursing

Supporting and developing nurse-led services

Overseeing patient care protocols and assisting in surgical and medical procedures

Promoting a positive, team-oriented working environment

Contributing to clinical governance and continuous improvement initiatives
The practice encourages autonomy and welcomes new ideas to enhance patient care and workflow efficiency.
Role Details

Full-time preferred (part-time considered)

No out-of-hours responsibilities

Limited weekend commitment, shared on a fair rota

Clinical and managerial responsibilities, with time allocated for both

Structured support available from experienced leadership
Candidate Requirements

RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse

Previous experience in a leadership or senior nursing role preferred

Confident in coordinating clinical teams and daily practice operations

Committed to maintaining high clinical standards

Approachable, supportive and proactive in team development
