We are representing a brand new state-of-the art hospital based in Mumbai, India.  It is one of a kind in the Country.  The team is lead by a UK Veterinarian. 

This state-of the art veterinary hospital in Mumbai will be the first of its kind veterinary hospital with the aim of providing ‘approachable expertise’ in the field of veterinary care for small and companion animals. The hospital will have comprehensive treatment facilities including 24*7 emergency services, in-patient facilities, full diagnostic capability and will be a front runner in the field of veterinary care.

Job Description:

The Head of Surgery is critical to the success of the hospital. They will be a key member of the founding team and they will be crucial to ensure the hospital becomes an efficiently functioning high quality clinical site; supporting both the setup and the final delivery. must be able to recruit, work with and train a team of clinicians, nurses and support staff to deliver a high quality surgical (both soft tissue and orthopedic) service. This role will have oversight of the client facing appointments as well as being responsible for ensuring that surgical standards, practices, and efficiencies are appropriate. They will play a lead role in inaugurating our intern program, and working alongside the head of clinical operations will ensure the right training is delivered to enable these staff members to develop in the right way for both the employee and the hospital. Most importantly they will push towards a sustainable way of working at the earliest opportunity to ensure that the hospital is not only staffed for the present but also staffed for the future.

  • Lead the recruitment of the clinical staff for the surgical area of the hospital.

  • Develop and deliver that appropriate training to the nurse and vet cadre to ensure they achieve a high standard from the day of launch.

  • Develop written and recorded protocols so that there is a clear way of working into which future staff can be inducted.

  • Work within the surgical department seeing clients, leading rounds, and overseeing the clinical care of all patients in the hospital – ensuring that all animals have appropriate clinical plans.

  • Development of team members both clinically and professionally to ensure they retain and develop the right talent.

Skills:

  • An outstanding clinician with an internationally recognized specialist qualification in surgery.

  • Capable of making pragmatic clinical decisions where owner, animal, facilities or staff dictate.

  • A strong leader who is willing to lead from the front and express opinions with confidence.

  • Over 10 years of clinical experience with a residency undertaken in this time.
