Lloyd & Cowan are excited to be working with a progressive and forward thinking practice in Sunderland for a Veterinary Surgeon with a Surgical bias. Position Highlights:

  • Flexibility: Options for shorter hours to fit around other commitments, such as working 9am–3pm, three days a week.

  • Supportive Team: Join a dedicated team of 6 vets, 10 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), 6 Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs), and an experienced reception team who prioritize both patient care and professional development.

  • Surgical Bias Preferred: Ideal for vets with a strong surgical interest, with up to 3 days a week in surgery.

  • Work-Life Balance: 1 in 4 Saturdays with no out-of-hours, Sunday, or bank holiday commitments.

About the Practice: With a varied caseload, clinical freedom is encouraged, and gold-standard care is actively supported. The practice is led by an experienced leadership team, including Certificate holders in Medicine and Ophthalmology, and team members are pursuing additional qualifications, expanding the practice’s expertise in areas like Dermatology, Surgery, and Cardiology. The practice is recognised with several awards, including the ISFM and RAW silver awards and the Dog-Friendly Practice award.

Working Environment: The team is proud of its positive, inclusive culture. Regular meetings, dedicated admin slots, and case discussion opportunities ensure ongoing professional support. The nursing team includes individuals with additional qualifications in areas like Emergency & Critical Care, Infection Control, and Feline Nursing, and the practices themselves are conveniently located in Sunderland, near beautiful coastal areas and excellent transport links.
