Veterinary Surgeon – Supportive, Close-Knit Team | Salary up to £70,000

If you’re an experienced vet who enjoys the balance of great clinical work, genuine relationships, and a team that actually gets along — this could be exactly what you’re looking for.

Locally owned and led by a certificate-holding Clinical Director, this RCVS-accredited hospital has earned Outstanding awards for both Client Care and Inpatient Services. Since first opening in 2014, the same core team has stayed, proof of the positive, people-first culture they’ve built.

The Practice
Modern, well-equipped, and purpose-built, the practice sits in a standalone building with easy parking and nearby amenities. Somerset itself offers a lovely quality of life, affordable housing, countryside walks, and easy access to Exeter, Bath, and the coast (all within an hour). The train station is just a 5-minute walk away, making commutes or city getaways simple.

The Team & Environment
You’ll be joining an established team that genuinely enjoys what they do:

  • A supportive Practice Owner (multi-certificate holder)
  • An experienced Vet with 20 years in practice and a passion for surgery
  • A talented new graduate Vet eager to learn
  • A close-knit group of RVNs, VCAs, and Client Care Advisors

The atmosphere here is collaborative and relaxed — team catch-ups are built into the day, consults are 20 minutes as standard, and several days a week finish at 6pm sharp.

The Role
This role suits a confident GP Vet with broad clinical experience, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in mentoring others. If you’ve ever considered becoming a Vet GDP Advisor, support is available to help you step into that role as the practice grows its graduate programme.

The Offer

  • Salary up to £70,000 (DOE)
  • 5.6 weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays (rising after 2 years)
  • Private healthcare & life assurance
  • Contributory pension
  • Paid memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)
  • Dedicated CPD allowance & certificate funding
  • Visa sponsorship available
  • No out-of-hours
  • 1 in 3 Saturday mornings
  • Cycle-to-work scheme

This is a fantastic chance to join a respected practice where you’ll be supported to grow clinically while still enjoying a true work-life balance.
