£65,000–£80,000 DOE | Independent Practice | 4-Day Week | No OOH | CT & Advanced Caseload

If you’re a Veterinary Surgeon who wants the freedom of an independent practice but still wants access to the equipment, expertise and caseload you’d normally associate with a much larger hospital, this is worth a look.

We’re working with a growing independent practice in Essex looking to add another Veterinary Surgeon to its established clinical team.

This is a genuinely well-equipped setup with CT, endoscopy, ultrasound, dental X-ray, digital radiography and three operating theatres, alongside a developing referral service across CT, ophthalmology and exotics.

The Role

This is a full-time position working four 10-hour days per week, with a 1 in 5 weekend rota:

  • Saturday 9am–5pm

  • Sunday 9am–2pm

  • No OOH

  • No bank holidays

  • Salary £65,000–£80,000 DOE

Importantly, the working day isn't designed around squeezing in consultation after consultation.

There is dedicated time away from consults to properly work up cases, review results, carry out minor procedures and discuss cases with the wider clinical team.

The Practice

You’ll be joining an independent practice that has grown considerably since opening and now combines a busy first-opinion caseload with an expanding referral service.

The facilities include:

  • CT

  • Endoscopy

  • Ultrasound

  • Dental X-ray

  • DR X-ray

  • Three operating theatres

  • Separate dog, cat and exotic facilities

There is expertise within the wider team across internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, cardiology and exotics, including certificate holders and visiting specialists.

For someone who enjoys medicine and properly investigating cases, there is a lot here to get involved with.

The Team

You’ll work alongside four full-time Veterinary Surgeons, eight RVNs and an experienced reception team.

They’re looking for someone confident enough to manage their own caseload but who also enjoys working collaboratively, discussing cases and learning from the experience around them.

You don’t need to come in with a certificate or a highly specialised skillset. What matters more is being a capable small animal vet who wants to keep developing and values having the time, equipment and support to practise properly.

What’s On Offer

  • £65,000–£80,000 depending on experience
  • 4-day working week
  • 1 in 5 weekends
  • No OOH or bank holidays
  • Independent practice
  • CT and advanced diagnostic facilities
  • Growing referral caseload
  • Experienced clinical team with multiple areas of expertise
  • Protected time to work cases up properly
