If you’re an experienced vet who enjoys actually having the time, equipment and support to work cases up properly, this is worth a look.
We’re working with a genuinely progressive, independent small animal practice in East Kent that is continuing to grow and is now looking to add another experienced Veterinary Surgeon to its team this autumn.
Currently a six-vet team, growing to seven, this is a planned additional hire rather than a replacement. The practice has seen continued growth across both its first-opinion and referral caseload and wants to expand the team without compromising the time, clinical standards or working environment its vets currently enjoy.
The Practice
This is an award-winning independent practice with an excellent reputation locally, recently named one of the Top 25 veterinary practices in the UK.
Clinically, it sits well beyond what you might expect from a traditional first-opinion practice.

The practice is based near Sandwich, Deal and Dover and has been deliberately built around allowing vets to practise good medicine rather than pushing patients through the door.
More Time to Be a Vet
Consultations are 20 minutes as standard, giving you the time to properly assess patients, speak with owners and make considered clinical decisions.
There is strong RVN support, proper clinical handovers and a collaborative team around you when you want another opinion, while still giving experienced vets the autonomy to manage their own cases.
Being independent also means clinical decisions remain clinical decisions.
If you enjoy investigating cases, using advanced diagnostics and following patients through rather than routinely referring everything elsewhere, there is plenty here to keep you interested.
The Role
They are looking for an experienced small animal vet who can work confidently within general practice and manage cases to a good clinical standard.
That could be someone a few years qualified who is ready for more clinical freedom, an established GP vet looking for a better working environment, or a certificate holder who wants the facilities and caseload to make proper use of their interests.
There is also scope to develop a particular clinical interest, undertake further qualifications, mentor others or take ownership of an area of the practice if that appeals to you.
Equally, if you simply want to be an excellent GP vet without being pushed down a management route, that is absolutely fine too.
Hours & Flexibility
Full-time or part-time applications are welcome.
Rather than forcing everyone into the same rota, the practice already has a number of bespoke working arrangements and is willing to shape the position around the right person.
Most importantly, there is no out-of-hours requirement.
